How Long are Handcuff Training Courses?

At UK Patient Care, our standard Handcuff Training Course is completed over one full day (8 hours).

Certification and Refresher Training Requirements

Upon completing the Handcuff Training Course and passing, participants receive a certificate valid for one year. Annual refresher training is required to maintain certification and stay updated on handcuffing techniques and legislation.

FAQ’S

How long is the course?

The course is completed over one full day: 09:30 x 17:30 (8 hours). The times can be changed to meet the needs of your organisations.

Is the course accredited?
Yes the course is CPD accredited with 8 credits. Alternatively, the course can also be run as a Highfield Level 3 Award or a BTEC level 2 Award.
Will I get a certificate?
Yes, you will get a CPD accredited certificate with 8 CPD credits or the relevant Highfield or BTEC certificate.
Can security guards carry handcuffs?
There is no law in the UK that prevents civilians from carrying handcuffs. SIA officers have no powers over and above that of a civilian. Anyone who does carry handcuffs must be aware that their use could constitute a crime, unless they can show that using them was reasonable and proportionate in the circumstances.
To summarise, yes you can carry handcuffs and by attending this course you will get the skills and knowledge to safely and effectively use them.
