-Malfunction/Maintenance (PUWER regulations)

-Medical implications of  handcuffing and medical emergencies 

-The law in relation to handcuffing (criminal law, common law) 

-Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations

-Human Rights 

-Awareness

-National Decision Model (NDM) 

-Safely and effectively applying rigid handcuffs 

-Safely and effectively removing rigid handcuffs

-Safely and effectively applying soft-cuffs 

-Safely and effectively removing soft-cuffs

In the practical sessions we will look at complaint and non-compliant applications.

The course is completed over one full day: 09:30 x 17:30

Is the course accredited?

Yes the course is CPD accredited with 8 credits. 

Will I get a certificate? 

Yes, you will get a CPD accredited certificate. 

Can security guards carry handcuffs? 

There is no law in the UK that prevents civilians from carrying handcuffs. SIA officers have no powers over and above that of a civilian. Anyone who does carry handcuffs must be aware that their use could constitute a crime, unless they can show that using them was reasonable and proportionate in the circumstances.

To summarise, yes you can carry handcuffs and by attending this course you will get the skills and knowledge to safely and effectively use them.
