Handcuff Train the trainer course – leeds – july 2026
We’re excited to announce a brand-new Handcuff Train the Trainer Course, taking place on 15th & 16th July 2026 at our training facility in Farsley, Leeds, LS28 5LY.

This is a 2-day, in-person instructor programme designed for organisations and professionals who want to develop qualified in-house trainers in the safe, lawful and effective use of handcuffs and soft restraints.

Why This Course Is Important

In environments where restraint may be required, training must go beyond basic techniques. It needs to be practical, legally sound and delivered with confidence.

Poor or outdated training can increase risk, lead to injury, and create serious legal consequences. High-quality instructor training ensures your organisation maintains consistent standards, safety and professionalism across all teams.

At UK Patient Care, we take a real-world, scenario-based approach, giving delegates the skills and confidence to not only apply techniques, but to teach them effectively within their own organisation.

What You’ll Learn

This intensive 2-day programme builds on the core principles of handcuff training and develops your ability to deliver it to others.

The course includes:

  • Safe and effective use of rigid handcuffs and soft-cuffs
  • Legal and ethical considerations around restraint
  • Application techniques for compliant and non-compliant individuals
  • Positioning, control, and transition methods
  • Risk awareness, safety and duty of care
  • How to plan, deliver and assess your own training sessions

Our training is built around hands-on practice, ensuring you leave with real confidence, not just theory.

Delegates will also benefit from structured learning aligned with industry best practice, including correct application methods, positioning and safe removal techniques.

Delivered by Highly Experienced Trainers

Our instructors bring a wealth of frontline experience, including backgrounds in policing, healthcare and specialist training environments.

With decades of combined experience, they understand the realities of working in high-risk situations and ensure every session is:

  • Practical
  • Relevant
  • Professional
  • Focused on real-world application

This is not a classroom-based tick-box course, it’s designed to raise standards and build genuine capability.

Following our recent handcuff training session with the Eboracum Group Street Rangers, it highlighted just how much this role has evolved and why high-quality, accredited training is now more important than ever.
